Meet Miss Pepper is a Golden Age comic published by St. John in 1954. The protagonist, Miss Pepper, is a young and attractive educator whose missteps can be partly attributed to her immaturity and lack of life experience. As might be expected, there is also a gym teacher, a principal, and a nerdy pupil in the cast. Each of the four stories that Joe Kubert depicts is beautifully designed and expertly paced. Bob Bean, his inker, tightens up and streamlines his usually sloppy pencils. The artwork that emerged from this process was funny, interesting, and realistic. The cover by Kubert, which features the figures in a unique layout, is even better.
